What You’ll Do 

The Shuttle Bus Driver (SCA Code 31290) operates company vehicles to transport military personnel and guests of the FLETC Charleston, South Carolina. Key duties include the following: 

  • Transport FLETC guests in a safe and timely manner to necessary destinations, including the airport, FLETC lodging and FLETC Charleston facilities, off-base sites such as grocery and convenience stores, and other locations as identified 

  • Complete required pre- and post-trip inspections; ensuring vehicle meets safety standards 

  • Document key information: trip details, maintenance, required checks, refueling, and other protocols via company systems 

  • Refuel vehicle as needed; ensure vehicles receive regular maintenance and servicing, as needed 

  • Clean interior and exterior of vehicle(s) assigned 

  • Submit report in the event of an emergency, accident, incident while operating a company vehicle 

  • Coordinate any special requirements or considerations for clients making the trip (i.e. ADA needs) 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

What You’ll Have 

  • A valid South Carolina driver's license and for positions or duties requiring a valid South Carolina commercial driver's license (CDL), and be approved by appropriate Federal, State, and municipal laws, codes and regulations in connection with operating a transportation service vehicle for the duration of the contract 

  • The ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records 

  • Has a currently valid commercial motor vehicle operator's license issued only by one State or jurisdiction 

  • Should be at least 21 years old 

  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of commercial transportation vehicles 

  • Knowledge of federal and state traffic laws and regulation 

  • Knowledge of basic travel requirements and restrictions
