WHY THE JOB EXISTS
The primary objective of this position is to provide full-time CAD support to our customers using the AutoCAD application. The candidate will work out of the VWI office in San Antonio, Texas and must be willing to travel to military bases throughout the United States and overseas. Travel may be for several weeks at a time. The Salary will be $30,000 - $35,000 depending on AutoCAD skills and experience surveying facilities to update architectural drawings.
The VWI CAD Associate will support contract activities to survey and create or update drawings for Facility Managers requirements and special project drawings needed. The CAD Associate must possess the ability to understand requirements in the CAD scopes of work and possess the skills to produce functional or multi-disciplinary drawings that have areas properly polylined for space accounting calculations. Using rational abilities and extended specialized training, the individual must be able to work independently and make decisions concerning technical aspects/requirements to measure/survey and produce accurate AutoCAD documents. They must create unique geometric forms to successfully deliver final drawing products in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner. Data collected during surveys must be analyzed to produce service and departmental space utilization reports. The CAD Associate will serve as qualified expert for AutoCAD and learn the DoD Drawbase drawing software that is integrated in the DMLSS-FM application. The individual must appreciate the delivery of healthcare services at facilities we support and be able to perform on-site services with minimal distractions to customers/building occupants without interference with healthcare operations. The CAD Associate may be taught to contribute to the linking of Drawbase drawings in DMLSS-FM in a manner that eliminates drawing and room inventory conflicts. English must be spoken to adequately communicate with customers.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Two years experience using Microsoft Office products
- Experience in AutoCAD 2016 or later
- The ability to work on your feet for 8 hours a day and lift 50 pounds
- The ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Have a passport or the ability to obtain a passport
- The ability to pass a Government background check
- The desire to work in a team environment with a commitment to the mission
- A valid State driver's license
- Ability to obtain a CAC card to work on a military base is required
- A working knowledge or familiarity with medical facilities management is desirable but is not mandatory
- Candidate must be detail oriented and very comfortable with computer applications
- Safety oriented
- Excellent communication skills in the English language
- Ensures a high-quality output by showing concern for all aspects of the job and checking final drawing details
- Excellent customer service attitude at all times.
The CAD Associate must have a high school education and an associate degree or equivalent specialized training in advanced technical AutoCAD processes, procedures and implementation. He or she must also be familiar with Drawbase software and the DMLSS-FM application or be capable of quickly learning to utilize both systems.
