Job Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified Executive Housekeeper / EVS Manager to lead our Environmental Services team in a fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate will ensure the highest standard of cleanliness, disinfection, and infection prevention throughout our medical facility. You will be responsible for strictly enforcing healthcare sanitation regulations, overseeing a large floor staff, and maintaining a sterile environment critical to patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Infection Control & Sanitation: Enforce rigid protocols for clinical disinfection, biohazard waste handling, and cross-contamination prevention according to CDC, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards.
- Staff Leadership & Training: Supervise, schedule, and evaluate a 24/7 housekeeping and laundry team. Conduct mandatory, continuous training on chemical safety (HAZMAT) and terminal cleaning protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the facility meets or exceeds all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, maintaining constant audit readiness for New York Department of Health (DOH) inspections.
- Quality Assurance Monitoring: Conduct daily rigorous inspections of patient rooms, operating theaters, emergency areas, and common spaces to verify maximum sterilization.
- Inventory & Resource Management: Manage the procurement and budgeting of hospital-grade disinfectants, personal protective equipment (PPE), and heavy-duty sanitation machinery.
- Certification: Must hold a valid, accredited healthcare sanitation credential. Highly preferred: Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) or Certified Healthcare Supervisor (CHS).
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory or managerial housekeeping experience specifically within an acute care hospital, surgical center, or large-scale clinical environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Hospitality, or Business Administration preferred, or equivalent field experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Expert understanding of chemical safety, SDS sheets, bloodborne pathogens, and specialized medical waste disposal techniques.
