Position Summary
V W International is seeking a Data Center Support Technician to provide technical, administrative and customer-facing support for mission-critical data center facilities activities.
This position will work closely with data center facilities personnel, customers, vendors and technical teams to coordinate infrastructure requirements, service requests, equipment installations, cabling, electrical requirements, cooling needs and other data center operational activities.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting a working data center and understands the relationship between IT equipment, network connectivity, electrical distribution and cooling infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Support data center facilities operations, initiatives, projects and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with customers to identify IT equipment and facilities-infrastructure needs.
- Assist with the development and implementation of basic infrastructure solutions.
- Support equipment installations, removals, relocations, adds, moves and changes.
- Process and track data center service and equipment purchase requests.
- Coordinate power, cooling, cabling, space and connectivity requirements for customer equipment.
- Support copper and fiber-optic cabling activities.
- Assist with basic network connectivity and troubleshooting involving Layers 1–3 of the OSI model and TCP/IP addressing.
- Assist with power-circuit, circuit-breaker, UPS, PDU and power-distribution requirements.
- Assist with data center cooling assessments and equipment-placement considerations.
- Maintain service-request records, customer communications, documentation and status reports.
- Coordinate activities with data center facilities personnel, IT customers, vendors and subcontractors.
- Assist with inspections, inventory, equipment documentation, work orders and maintenance records.
- Respond professionally to customer questions and service needs.
- Identify operational issues and elevate risks or technical concerns to senior facilities personnel.
- Support after-hours maintenance and on-call response when required.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of professional experience in environmental data center monitoring.
- At least two years of professional experience supporting complex data center facilities, infrastructure or IT systems integration.
- At least two years of professional experience in a multi-platform enterprise networking environment.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, facilities management or a related discipline.
- Functional understanding of Layers 1–3 of the OSI model.
- Functional knowledge of TCP/IP addressing.
- Working knowledge of copper and fiber-optic cabling technologies.
- Working understanding of data center electrical-distribution systems, including circuits, circuit breakers, UPS systems, transfer switches, PDUs and power-distribution modules.
- Working understanding of data center equipment-cooling systems and solutions.
- Experience supporting customers in an operational IT or data center environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, troubleshooting and organizational abilities.
- Ability to qualify for federal facility access and meet applicable background-investigation requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a federal or other regulated data center environment.
- Experience with ticketing, service-request or IT service-management platforms.
- Experience coordinating IT equipment installation and facilities requirements.
- Familiarity with DCIM or environmental-monitoring systems.
- Data center, networking, cabling, electrical or IT support certifications.
