 What You’ll Do
The Housekeeper maintains a sanitary, safe, and esthetically pleasing environment that will execute the primary mission of patient care for  George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center (VASLC) in Salk Lake City (500 S. Foothill Blvd., Salt Lake City, UT 84148.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of hospital facilities.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, waiting areas, and other designated areas.
  • Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in hallways, and common areas. 
  • Collect and dispose of trash and medical waste properly, following infection control guidelines.
  • Restock supplies such as towels, toilet paper, soap, and other essential items in public areas, and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying the supervisor when items need to be replenished.
  • Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed to the appropriate department for prompt resolution.
  • Follow standard procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous materials and adhering to infection control practices.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of special events or meetings as required.
  • Adhere to all safety precautions and protocols while performing duties to ensure the well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.
What You’ll Have
  • Minimum 1–2 years of janitorial/housekeeping work in federal, healthcare, or high-traffic commercial environments.
  • Knowledge of VA or CDC-aligned cleaning protocols, including biohazard disposal and dwell time compliance.
  • Availability for assigned shifts.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and comply with site security policies.
  • Have or obtain required immunizations.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
