What You’ll Do The Electrician trouble shoots, repairs, installs, and performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all electrical systems within the facilities, the Central Utilities Plant (CUP), and other buildings related to the contract by performing the following duties. This position requires a Journeyman’s license with both mechanical and electrical aptitudes.
Ensures that lighting throughout the facility is in working order through regular maintenance checks, replacement of defective parts, and repairs as required according to policies.
Performs the maintenance and repair of electrical switchgear and distribution equipment, kitchen equipment, and other electrical equipment in accordance with specifications.
Perform maintenance and repair on large systems including (but not limited to) pneumatic tubes system, nurse call system, emergency power, lighting controls, mass notification, and fire alarm system. Maintain a current competency for these systems.
Remain knowledgeable and proficient with the electrical distribution system for each building on campus. Create and maintain both single–line drawings and distribution maps for the electrical system.
Maintains records of electrical preventive and corrective maintenance activities as required; performs corrective and preventive maintenance tests as necessary, according to policies.
Installs wiring, switches, receptacles and other electrical devices as assigned, in accordance with national electrical codes.
Independently perform electrical systems tasks in rooms, including television, nurse call apparatus, lighting and receptacles according to PM check list.
Repair and install electrical devices such as receptacles, light fixtures, light switches, lighting ballast, motors, etc.
Install electrical conduit and related boxes.
Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on various electrical devices.
Participate in the monthly emergency generator testing.
Follow and implement standard Lock Out Tag Out policies and procedures.
Complete Work Order and Preventative Maintenance (PM) paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
What You’ll Have

Be able to read and understand electrical schematics.
Be able to read and understand manufacture’s submittals and literature.
Be able to specify, locate and order material and replacement parts.
Be able to understand and implement national electrical codes, life safety codes and fully comply to NFPA 70E Arc Flash Protection.
Attend Tool Box safety meetings and demonstrate safety competency.
At a minimum, must have a current Texas Journeyman Electrician license.
Must have a current driver’s license.
